Happy to have you! Can I get you anything? No? Totally okay. So here it goes, my tiny little website that I bought and started when I really, honest to goodness, was 29 for the first time. I’m no longer that. Not by a long shot. But, I’m also not one foot on the other side of living either, so there’s that!
This is my space to share what so many of us have thought, but as people in the education field, we can’t say the thing. So I’ll write it instead! The hope is to make a few people laugh, let others relate, and also remind you that you’re not alone. Teaching is tough. Whether you are an educator in the classroom, an admin who wrangles all the educators, or a member of the leadership team who has to politely and professionally remind the admins and the educators that we are here for the students. They know the pay is terrible and the hours are equally restrictive, but alas, we all chose to be here.
That doesn’t mean we are not people first, and that most of what we encounter is just awe-inspiringly mind-boggling. So here we are. Forced to write posts that help remind us that we can laugh through the eye-rolls, and that we really do love being part of this wild ride. We all know that it’s the handful of students in each course that get that light bulb, realize they have found their career, or even recognize that the degree program they have chosen is so not at all for them. In all cases, we had a part in that, and it’s amazing. None of us would give it up for the world, and we are lucky to be part of this profession.
